Worldsensing has launched its next-generation Loadsensing G7 Digital Data Logger, a low-power LoRa edge device engineered to transform data acquisition in industrial, structural and geotechnical applications.

The G7 is designed for deployment in harsh, remote environments—such as tailings dams, open-pit mines and underground works—where wired networks are impractical and frequent site visits are costly. By enabling denser sensor networks and more frequent readings without expanding power infrastructure, the device addresses a critical pain point for operators seeking higher-resolution monitoring with lower operational overhead.

Key technical advances include optimised low-power electronics and firmware tailored for multi-year unattended operation on internal batteries, alongside direct digital interface support for smart sensors. This eliminates the need for intermediate analogue converters or multiplexers, simplifying installation and reducing potential failure points.

The launch follows a broader G7 platform development strategy that has already seen the introduction of specialised devices such as the G7 Vibration Meter and GNSS Meter, both co-financed by Spain’s Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI). These devices form part of a new product family designed to meet stringent environmental and performance standards.

Earlier this year, the G7 platform received validation under the European Union’s Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principle, certifying that its design and lifecycle impact align with six core environmental objectives, including climate change mitigation, circular economy transition and pollution prevention.

The certification, issued by the Spanish Certification Agency (ACIE), positions Worldsensing as a leader in sustainable industrial IoT innovation.

“Our commitment to innovation goes hand in hand with our responsibility to the planet,” said Andrea Bartoli, chief technology officer at Worldsensing. “The validation of our new G7 platform under the DNSH principle highlights our dedication to developing cutting-edge technologies that meet the highest environmental standards.”

The G7 Digital Logger builds on the legacy of the Loadsensing family, which has deployed more than 100,000 devices globally since 2008. The platform supports secure, long-range LoRa star network topology with connectivity of up to 12 kilometres, enabling reliable data transmission even in radio-obstructed environments without requiring repeaters or complex network planning.

Recent integrations further extend the G7’s capabilities. Worldsensing has partnered with Measurand to enable its Digital Loggers to power and communicate with ShapeArray deformation sensors, providing engineering teams with real-time automated ground and structural monitoring data. The integration supports auto-detection of sensor segments and configuration via Worldsensing’s Dlog mobile app, with autonomous low-power supply for up to seven years across 100 ShapeArray segments.

For mining and infrastructure operators, the G7’s event-triggered measurement modes and sub-two-second alert latency unlock new possibilities for time-sensitive risk management. Combined with extended battery life and enhanced interoperability, the device enables more complex monitoring schemes with reduced maintenance and higher responsiveness.

“CDTI’s support has been instrumental in enabling us to progress advanced research to propel the G7 family forward,” added Francisco Hernández, VP compliance at Worldsensing. “Their commitment to innovation and sustainability aligns perfectly with our vision to develop technologies that protect people and the planet.”

As industries face increasing pressure to improve safety, reduce environmental impact and optimise operational costs, the G7 Digital Logger represents a significant step toward smarter, more sustainable monitoring infrastructure.
