Singapore Polytechnic leads push for responsible Industrial AI adoption

Singapore Polytechnic

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) has been named the founding training partner for AutomationSG’s Trusted Industrial AI-Ready (TIA-Ready) Framework, Singapore’s first industry-owned framework designed to help companies adopt artificial intelligence in industrial settings safely and at scale.

The announcement was made at the third annual Automation SolutionGO! x Regional Industry Networking Conference (RINC) 2026, co-organised by SP and AutomationSG, with Guest-of-Honour Alvin Tan, minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development, in attendance.

A practical pathway for AI governance

The TIA-Ready Framework provides companies with a structured approach to assess AI risks, implement governance controls, and build trusted capabilities in industrial automation, robotics, and operational technology. Benchmarked against ISO/IEC 42001, the framework allows businesses to start with a defined use case and progressively strengthen governance as their AI adoption matures.

“Introducing AI into industrial processes also introduces new risks, especially as AI becomes more autonomous and connected to automation and operational technology environments,” said Saw Biing Huei, CEO of AutomationSG. “TIA-Ready helps companies start with one bounded use case, build evidence, manage risk and progressively prepare for ISO/IEC 42001 when they are ready.”

SP supported the framework’s development by piloting its structure with two SMEs, JM Vistec and CADVision Systems. Their feedback confirmed that the framework helps smaller enterprises identify AI-related risks, adopt stronger governance practices, and build customer confidence while maintaining business continuity.

Building workforce capabilities for an AI-driven economy

As part of the initiative, SP will launch an Industrial AI and Governance Literacy programme in October 2026. The programme aims to equip graduates, adult learners, and industry partners with the skills needed to deploy AI responsibly in operational environments.

“As AI becomes embedded in industrial and operational environments, companies need both the right technology and the workforce capabilities to use it responsibly,” said Soh Wai Wah, principal and CEO of Singapore Polytechnic. “As the founding training partner of the TIA-Ready Framework, SP will help translate industry collaboration into practical workforce capability, so our graduates, adult learners and industry partners can thrive in an AI-driven economy.”

Partnerships to accelerate talent and transformation

Beyond the framework, SP formalised nine strategic partnerships with industry leaders, academia, and professional associations. Partners include Dassault Systèmes, GlobalFoundries, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, SMC Corporation, Women in Aviation Singapore Chapter, Stolz Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Advantech, and GloboAI Robotics.

These collaborations will strengthen talent pipelines in manufacturing, semiconductors, aviation, and robotics, while advancing sustainability and digital transformation. Through its partnership with GlobalFoundries alone, SP is projected to train more than 2,000 employees to support the company’s digital transformation journey.

SP will also become the first institute of higher learning in Singapore to deploy the 3DEXPERIENCE Works for Startups and SOLIDWORKS SkillForce programmes, reinforcing national capabilities in Industrial AI and advanced engineering.
