NTT DATA has launched NTT DATA AI for Insurance, an AI-native, service-as-software solution designed to convert complex insurance workflows into governed, repeatable services across underwriting, claims and customer service.

For heads of operations and customer experience, the pitch is less about experimentation and more about execution. NTT DATA says the platform is built for highly regulated insurance environments, combining configurable AI agents, insurance-specific data models, workflow orchestration and enterprise-grade governance to preserve auditability, regulatory guardrails and human oversight.

The company said the solution is powered by its AIVista platform and can be configured for each carrier’s products, processes, operating model and regulatory requirements. It is also designed for open integration with existing systems, which should matter to operations leaders wary of core-system lock-in or disruptive replatforming.

Governance built in

NTT DATA is positioning the product as a way to move insurers from AI-enabled workflows to AI-delivered operations. That distinction is important: the company is not just selling productivity tools, but an operating model in which AI agents work inside governed processes rather than alongside them.

“Insurance is built on human judgment that understands risk, prices fairly and stands behind promises when it matters most,” said Bruno Abril, global lead, insurance industry, NTT DATA.

“AI strengthens the ability of insurers to meet that responsibility, and NTT DATA AI for Insurance supports human expertise with intelligent systems that work within a governed operating layer for enterprise-scale transformation.” Bruno Abril

NTT DATA said the solution includes specialised models and agents trained on carrier and domain-specific data, specialised guardrails for deterministic and auditable outcomes, and an AI-native knowledge base built around its proprietary insurance data genome.

It also claims prebuilt and configurable agents can enable deployment up to three times faster across underwriting, claims and service workflows.

The insurance use case is backed by NTT DATA’s own 2026 Global AI Report: A Playbook for AI Leaders in Insurance, which found that two-thirds of insurers want to use AI in front-office interactions, while 86 per cent support AI in back- and mid-office workflows, although most have not yet industrialised agentic AI across core operations.

Prashant Hinge, chief information officer at MSIG USA, said the challenge is translating data into action.

“AI can help insurers identify high-risk claims sooner, improve consistency throughout the claims process, and equip claims professionals with the insights they need to make faster, more informed decisions,” he said.

For COO and CX leaders, the significance is clear: NTT DATA is betting that insurers will increasingly value AI not just for insight, but for controlled execution across customer-facing and back-office workflows.
