Equinix has announced two services designed to help enterprises deploy and connect distributed artificial intelligence, cloud, and networking environments as AI workloads move from experimentation into production.
Announced at Equinix Horizon in Singapore, Equinix Fabric One is a managed, any-to-any connectivity service that enables customers to specify the environments they need connected and the requirements they want to meet. The service is designed to determine and deliver the routing, cloud connectivity, encryption, resiliency, and failover required across distributed architectures.
The announcement comes alongside Equinix Inference Exchange, a distributed AI inference programme developed with NVIDIA and Together AI. The offering combines NVIDIA’s validated Enterprise Reference Architectures, Together AI’s inference platform supporting more than 200 open-source models, and Equinix’s global data-centre infrastructure. Connectivity to clouds, networks, and AI providers will be delivered through Equinix Fabric.
For chief operating officers and technology leaders, the initiatives address the operational challenge of managing AI infrastructure across multiple providers, locations, data sources, and environments. Equinix said enterprises increasingly need inference to run closer to the users, data, and applications it serves, while maintaining control over performance, cost, governance, and data location.
Fabric One is intended to replace connection-by-connection network management with a service that can be accessed through a portal, application programming interfaces, automation workflows, agent-based requests, or natural-language prompts. It will use open connectivity specifications developed by AWS and Google Cloud to support interoperability across enterprise, cloud, and AI environments.
“For decades, enterprise networks have been built one connection at a time for each partner and provider they depend on,” said Chris Audie, chief product officer at Equinix.
“That approach doesn't scale in a world of distributed AI that demands dynamic, flexible and real-time connectivity. Equinix Fabric One will reduce the complexity that's slowing enterprises down by automatically managing connectivity across distributed architectures, based on the customer's intent.”
The company's Inference Exchange programme is designed to support metro-edge inference, open-model migration, and sovereign AI deployments. It will offer multitenant environments for shared efficiency and dedicated single-tenant capacity for workloads requiring dedicated resources. The service is expected to be available from the first quarter of 2027.
Fabric One will initially enter beta later this year, with general availability planned for 2027, initially in North America. “Customers shouldn't have to figure out how to connect across multiple clouds and AI environments on their own,” said Robert Kennedy, vice president of AWS network services. “They should just define what they need and have it work.”
For enterprises, the two announcements position connectivity and inference as managed operational services, allowing teams to focus on AI workloads rather than the infrastructure complexity required to connect and run them.
