Vertiv PowerUPS 6000 Industrial uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is specifically engineered to provide reliable power protection for mission-critical operations across demanding commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors, including manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and steel production.
The design directly addresses the challenges posed by harsh operational settings. Greg Funk, vice president of modular power converters at Vertiv, noted, “Industrial environments can face electrical instability, high temperatures, and airborne contaminants that traditional UPS systems aren't built to withstand.”
He added that the PowerUPS 6000 Industrial is “engineered specifically for Industry 4.0 applications, delivering reliable performance amid demanding environments.”
The system is built with an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP42, signifying resistance to dust ingress, humidity, and ambient temperatures up to 50 °C (122 °F) . This ruggedisation is crucial for protecting sensitive industrial control systems such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and production-line automation equipment.
Key operational features include a compact cabinet footprint and front-access-only installation and serviceability, which simplifies deployment in space-constrained factory settings.
For energy efficiency, the UPS achieves up to 96% efficiency in double-conversion mode and 99% in ECO mode, supporting VRLA, Ni-Cd, and Li-ion battery cabinets for flexible runtime requirements. The unit also manages power fluctuations effectively with a wide input voltage range of -40% to +25% and delivers conditioned power with low harmonic distortion, thereby reducing stress on upstream infrastructure .
Arunangshu Chattopadhyay, director for AC power and power distribution for Vertiv Asia, highlighted the relevance for the region’s evolving industrial base: “Across Asia, increasing levels of automation, advanced process controls, and connected industrial equipment are raising the sensitivity of production environments to power fluctuations.”
The UPS supports this trend with high-efficiency, double-conversion technology and advanced power conditioning, enabling continuous uptime in highly automated facilities .
The system is certified to international standards including IEC 62040, EN 50121, and EN 50171, confirming its suitability for mission-critical industrial applications. Furthermore, conformal-coated PCBAs enhance resistance to corrosion, dust, and moisture, ensuring longevity in harsh settings.
