Shannon Germain is a senior analyst supporting the healthcare vertical at Forrester. Her research helps healthcare organizations improve workforce efficiency and leverage digital technologies to optimize clinical workflows and patient outcomes. Her research agenda focuses primarily on the new care continuum with a particular emphasis on clinician experiences and the future of work in the provider space. A licensed registered nurse, she also spearheads Forrester’s clinician burnout, hospital-at-home, clinical decision support, and virtual care research.
Previous Work Experience
Farraher possesses 13 years of nursing experience across the medical, legal, consulting, and technology sectors, including seven years of expertise driving excellence in utilization management through innovation and design. She maintains her clinical expertise as a practicing per diem nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital providing acute care to cardiac surgical stepdown patients. She is dedicated to advising health care organizations on improving the quadruple aim, particularly the clinician and patient experience.
Prior to Forrester, Farraher was a content product architect at Change Healthcare, where she designed new workflows and updated existing subsets for an evidence-based clinical decision support solution for payers, providers, and government agencies that ensured clinically appropriate utilization of resources. Prior to that, she worked as a clinical content developer, where she created medical criteria for InterQual, a clinical decision support tool, and served as a national subject matter expert in best practice standards and evidence-based medicine.
Education
Farraher holds a BS in nursing from Fairfield University’s School of Nursing and an MBA from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business with a concentration in healthcare management.
