Michele Pelino leads Forrester’s edge computing and IoT research across platforms, services, applications, and vendors. Her expertise spans major verticals (across retail, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics) and major use cases via her famed IoT heatmaps and evaluating the four edges that define the market.
Pelino’s broader expertise focuses on smart buildings, smart cities, and 5G networks. Michele delivers strategic guidance to Forrester's enterprise and vendor clients by identifying IoT platforms, services, applications, and solutions and determining the impact of IoT and edge solutions on infrastructure, operations, employee experience, sustainability, and supply chain processes.
She also focuses on strategic issues facing enterprise stakeholders and the telecom industry, gauging the effect of new competitors, new business models, and new technologies.
During her tenure at Forrester, she has advised leading Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies on their edge/IoT strategies and has been frequently cited in major news outlets including The Washington Post, Tech Target, Reuters, CIO Dive, and Computer Weekly.
Previous Work Experience
Pelino has more than 20 years of professional experience focusing on IoT solutions, enterprise mobility, and the telecommunications industry. She assisted domestic and international service providers in addressing strategic issues, conducting competitive assessments, evaluating product concepts, and developing marketing positioning messages on new technologies and services.
Prior to joining Forrester, she was a management consultant serving national and international communications and technology clients in North America and Europe.
Pelino started her consulting career in Booz Allen & Hamilton's telecommunications group, where she helped telecom companies implement a federally mandated wireline and wireless service prioritization system used during national emergencies.
Education
Pelino has an MBA from Boston University. She also holds a BA from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
