Gprnt has unveiled what is claims is the world’s first nationwide utility designed to help companies in Singapore, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), automatically generate their sustainability metrics.
This initiative, launched by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and supported by US$4.62 million in seed funding from Ant International and MUFG Bank, aims to streamline sustainability reporting by integrating government-sourced utilities data.
Gprnt allows Singapore-based companies to retrieve their water, gas, and electricity consumption data securely through the Government Technology Agency’s Myinfo business service. This integration enables businesses to automatically convert their utilities data into essential sustainability metrics, such as Scope 1 and 2 emissions, without incurring costs.
Unlocking green finance opportunities
This utility is not just a reporting tool; it represents a significant step towards unlocking green finance and procurement opportunities for organisations.
By simplifying the sustainability disclosure process, Gprnt empowers companies to meet reporting requirements, access sustainable financing, and qualify for green procurement schemes. As a result, businesses can leverage their sustainability metrics to open new economic avenues.
Ravi Menon, chairman of the GFTN Board and Singapore’s Ambassador for Climate Action, described Gprnt as a “game-changer” for sustainability reporting. He highlighted the platform’s role in enabling SMEs to manage the complexities of sustainability data, especially during challenging economic times.
Strengthening digital infrastructure
The recent seed funding will bolster Gprnt’s digital infrastructure and enhance its AI capabilities, facilitating the onboarding of additional partners both locally and regionally. Ant International and MUFG Bank are committed to integrating Gprnt into their ecosystems, supporting firms with sustainability disclosures and addressing gaps in Scope 3 supply chain data.
Leiming Chen, chief sustainability officer at Ant International, emphasised the importance of digital innovation in aiding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on their sustainability journeys.
Collaborating with Gprnt, Ant International aims to simplify the sustainability disclosure process for MSMEs, making it more robust and aligned with existing digital ecosystems.
Future developments
Gprnt’s roadmap includes the launch of a proprietary sustainability marketplace and advanced features such as intelligent recommendation engines and support for Scope 3 reporting. These innovations will empower stakeholders across the value chain, from SMEs to large corporations, to engage in meaningful climate action.
As Gprnt continues to scale its services, it aspires to become a transformative force in sustainability reporting globally, making ESG data accessible and actionable for all businesses.
Sopnendu Mohanty, Group CEO of GFTN, expressed optimism about Gprnt’s potential to reshape sustainability practices and financing worldwide, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards a greener economy.
