Federal Express (FedEx) unveiled a new flight route designed to enhance connectivity between the Asia Pacific (APAC), India, and Europe. This strategic move aims to improve operational efficiency and flexibility for APAC customers, especially for vital trade lanes like Intra-Asia and Europe.
The new route links FedEx’s Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, to Bangalore, India, and extends to the UAE, Liege, and Paris, operating five times a week. This development is particularly beneficial during the busy holiday season, as it reduces transit times by one day, allowing for next-day delivery to South India. This is especially crucial for the high-tech and automotive sectors in the region, which rely on timely logistics for their operations. The enhanced network will also help businesses manage imports and exports between India and Europe with greater reliability.
A recent FedEx survey indicates that APAC businesses are optimistic about year-on-year sales growth this holiday season, underscoring the importance of this new flight route. As of FY24, China remains India’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade at $118.4 billion, comprising $101.7 billion in imports from China and $16.67 billion in exports to China. The Asia-to-Europe corridor is one of the busiest globally, with China leading exports in machinery, electronics, and high-tech goods.
“Asia Pacific businesses are increasingly prioritizing cross-border trade, and building a resilient global network is vital to unlocking growth opportunities,” stated Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific at FedEx.
She emphasised that the new air network reflects FedEx's confidence in the region's future and its commitment to providing flexible and efficient logistics solutions. As demand for prompt deliveries rises, FedEx aims to ensure seamless and reliable services for businesses during the peak holiday season and beyond.
In addition to enhancing flight connectivity, FedEx is investing in digital solutions to assist customers in navigating the global marketplace. Tools like the FedEx Import Tool and FedEx Ship Manager™ offer streamlined processes for shipments, while mobile solutions, such as FedEx Ship Manager Lite, cater to small businesses and e-commerce merchants.
FedEx is employing machine learning to provide customers with precise delivery windows, further enhancing the overall shipping experience. With ongoing investments in technology and infrastructure, FedEx remains dedicated to supporting APAC businesses in their global trade efforts.
