Ericsson has unveiled its comprehensive Enterprise 5G strategy, focusing on private and neutral host 5G solutions to enhance business-critical connectivity in various operational environments. This initiative aims to meet the increasing demand for automation, safety, and seamless connectivity in enterprises, addressing the limitations of traditional technologies like Wi-Fi and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
Manish Tiwari, head of private cellular networks at Ericsson, emphasised that the Enterprise 5G portfolio leverages Ericsson’s advanced radio, software, and managed operations capabilities to provide flexible solutions for both carpeted and industrial enterprises. The portfolio includes three main offerings:
Ericsson private 5G: A converged 4G/5G solution with industry and licensed spectrum support, ensuring best-in-class coverage, mobility, security, and low latency.
Ericsson private 5G compact: A U.S. CBRS-based solution designed for areas where Wi-Fi is inadequate, utilizing a simplified radio architecture.
Ericsson enterprise 5G coverage: A neutral host solution certified by major U.S. carriers, offering a scalable architecture that reduces costs compared to legacy systems.
The Enterprise 5G portfolio integrates with Ericsson's broader radio access network (RAN) capabilities, including the Radio Dot System for indoor deployments. The company emphasizes simplified, subscription-based pricing models and strong pre- and post-sales support, allowing enterprises to focus on innovation and business outcomes.
With the launch of NetCloud Manager, customers can deploy and manage the entire Ericsson Enterprise Wireless platform, which encompasses Enterprise 5G, Wireless WAN, and SASE. This comprehensive cloud management platform simplifies deployments and operations, providing features like unified policy management and AIOps for actionable insights. Additionally, innovative tools such as indoor 5G positioning allow enterprises to track assets with high accuracy.
Pablo Tomasi, principal analyst at Omdia, noted that Ericsson's strategic approach is critical for meeting the growing demand for secure, high-performance connectivity, enabling enterprises to transform effectively as they embrace 5G technology.
