As supply chain demands continue to evolve, the ability to adapt and implement advanced technology solutions becomes paramount.

Oracle has unveiled a new solution within its Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing (SCM) suite aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency for organisations. The Oracle Fusion Cloud Advanced Inventory Management solution leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline warehouse operations, simplify inventory transactions, and accelerate order fulfilment.

According to Srini Rajagopal, vice president of logistics product strategy at Oracle, “Organisations that rely on outdated and manual inventory processes struggle to keep pace with evolving supply chain demands, contributing to errors, higher inventory costs, and delayed fulfilment.”

This new offering is particularly beneficial for sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and distribution, which often require robust inventory management without the complexities of a full-scale warehouse management system.

Key features

The Oracle Advanced Inventory Management solution is designed to improve operational efficiencies through several innovative capabilities:

  1. Streamlined Task Assignment: This feature reduces duplication and ensures faster, more accurate task completion by efficiently assigning tasks like pick slips and deliveries to designated team members.
  2. Simplified Inventory Transactions: By utilising license plate numbers, the solution enhances accuracy in receiving, shipping, transfers, and counting, allowing for real-time inventory updates directly within the Oracle system.
  3. Real-Time Cross-Docking Alerts: This capability optimises fulfilment by notifying team members of opportunities to fulfil open demand without the need for storage, thereby reducing handling times.
  4. Load-Based Shipment Grouping: By assigning load numbers for consolidated shipments, this feature helps improve logistics and reduce transportation costs.
  5. Suggested Put-Away Locations: To enhance space utilisation, the system recommends optimal locations for incoming goods, accelerating storage decisions.
  6. AI-Driven Inventory Automation: Embedded AI capabilities within the system help optimise stock levels, trigger replenishment actions, and automate routine inventory tasks, significantly improving operational efficiency.

Impact on supply chain management

Oracle’s Advanced Inventory Management provides a comprehensive toolset to manage inventory more effectively. The integration of AI not only aids in decision-making but also creates a more resilient supply network capable of responding swiftly to changing market conditions.

The vendor's latest offering positions organisations to enhance their operational capabilities, reduce costs, and ultimately improve customer satisfaction through more efficient fulfilment processes. The goal is to help businesses better navigate the complexities of modern supply chains, ensuring they remain competitive in a dynamic landscape.
