HEINEKEN has launched its first Global Generative AI (GenAI) Lab in Singapore, marking a pivotal step in the company's digital transformation journey. In partnership with AI Singapore, this initiative aims to harness the power of generative AI to enhance growth, productivity, and customer engagement across its global operations.

The GenAI Lab underscores HEINEKEN's ambition to become the world's best-connected brewer. Chief digital and technology officer, Ronald den Elzen, emphasised the lab's role in understanding consumer needs and improving operational efficiency. "GenAI will be crucial in enhancing customer engagement and productivity throughout the company," he stated.
The lab is designed to develop advanced, scalable GenAI solutions across key business areas. These include sophisticated systems capable of autonomously addressing complex challenges, such as generating automated marketing content, intelligent financial reporting, and next-generation customer support. HEINEKEN’s approach integrates human expertise with AI capabilities, ensuring responsible practices while creating standardised solutions suitable for global implementation.

Kenneth Choo, HEINEKEN's MD for the Asia-Pacific region, highlighted the lab as a global centre of expertise that will drive AI innovation locally and enhance operations worldwide. By leveraging Singapore's strong AI ecosystem, skilled workforce, and supportive government policies, HEINEKEN aims to develop solutions that could significantly transform the beverage industry.
The collaboration between HEINEKEN and AI Singapore is designed for ongoing knowledge transfer and talent sharing. By the end of 2025, the lab expects to establish a specialised team combining HEINEKEN's digital specialists with AI Singapore's talent pool, enabling access to top AI professionals and innovative methodologies.

Laurence Liew, director of AI Innovation at AI Singapore, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it represents a powerful model for effective private-public collaboration in driving impactful AI solutions. Similarly, Chan Ih-Ming, executive vice president of the Economic Development Board, welcomed the lab as a means to unlock new business value while enhancing AI talent and capabilities within Singapore.
HEINEKEN’s GenAI Lab builds on a history of successful AI implementations, such as its financial insights platform and the KIM (Knowledge and Insight Management) solution, which revolutionises market insight access for marketing teams. These initiatives reflect HEINEKEN's commitment to AI-driven innovation and establish a strong foundation for the lab's ambitious research agenda.
