TeamViewer has announced the launch of Agentless Access, a new feature within its Tensor platform, aimed at simplifying and securing remote operations in industrial environments. This innovation allows manufacturers and machine builders to remotely access operational technology (OT) systems without the need to install software on each device.
As factories across the region modernise, they become more interconnected, increasing their vulnerability to cyberattacks. The Agentless Access feature addresses these security concerns by enabling direct remote access to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for maintenance and troubleshooting, all while eliminating the risk associated with software changes on critical devices.

“Agentless Access bridges the gap between IT and OT. It gives manufacturers a reliable way to connect to critical systems remotely without compromising compliance or security,” says Caroline Hempfing, director of product management at TeamViewer.
The introduction of Agentless Access aligns with ongoing national initiatives in Southeast Asia aimed at driving digital transformation in manufacturing.
Policies such as Singapore’s Smart Industry Readiness Index, Thailand 4.0, and Malaysia’s Industry 4WRD are designed to enhance the region’s manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness. As these initiatives gain momentum, businesses are increasingly seeking secure connectivity solutions that protect vital systems while maintaining operational control.
With the integration of Agentless Access into the TeamViewer Tensor platform, manufacturers can now achieve centralised management and simplified configuration for OT endpoints without the complexities of traditional software installations. This is crucial for industries such as electronics, automotive, and food processing, which are foundational to Southeast Asia’s manufacturing exports.
As manufacturing environments become more complex, the need for secure, flexible connectivity solutions has never been greater. TeamViewer’s approach, which enforces zero-trust remote access with granular controls and full audit logging, ensures that both IT governance and OT operational safety are prioritised.
In a landscape where IT and OT functions increasingly intersect, the launch of Agentless Access represents a significant step forward for manufacturers seeking to enhance their cybersecurity posture and operational efficiency. TeamViewer’s ongoing commitment to innovation in secure remote operations will be further highlighted at upcoming industry events, including Smart Remote Service in Berlin and Microsoft Ignite in San Francisco.
